About Max
I love lifting heavy things in gratifying ways! And believe the best workouts bring you pleasure <3
My training approach centres kindness towards ourselves/our bodies. Clients have described my coaching and approach as sensitive, caring and adaptable. I like to bring a playful, collaborative approach to our sessions.
My Story aka movement practises are a blessing!
Much of my twenties and early thirties was spent at a desk in front of a screen. No movement practice in sight! Training reconnected me with my younger self, who naturally loved to move (Aries rising here!). Younger Max dabbled in everything—aggressive skating, indoor snowboarding, fencing, roller hockey, kayaking, skateboarding - pretty masc tbh. Movement was my outlet, especially as an angsty, greebo teen without the tools or language to express myself. I was going through the wrong puberty, home life was turbulent, and aggressive skating became both tonic and escape.
I didn’t grasp these deeper benefits, so during my late teens/early twenties, I’d stopped altogether. Cue: sad montage! Uni/Film school took over, and I’d decided “sports” were for airheads (sometimes tracks, lol!). My body also didn’t fit in male-dominated spaces, which likely added to my retreat.
At 34, I rediscovered movement and it’s many benefits to wellbeing, how it can help us tune into our bodies which we may have disconnected from, and help us find home in ourselves. Mental health benefits? Endless. I attended some classes with a trans masc coach (we’re a rare breed but I’m blessed to live in East London) and our connection eventually grew into friendship. I had PT sessions with them to help strengthen my chest and build my confidence pre-top surgery. Our sessions felt tailored to my body, safe, and affirming—a space where I could grow.
I felt championed, and this journey was so transformative I’m now eager to share the gifts I was bestowed, by coaching others.
I also love the aesthetics of muscles! And encourage muscular aesthetic goals and visions - whether these are gender affirming or simply affirming to you. On the flip side, if aesthetics isn’t important to you, and feeling strong is - I also support this goal. We’ll always work towards whatever suits your needs.
Wherever you’re at on your journey, let’s have a call about your training today!
